English The most-booked tour · from €83
A bus tour costs €78–103 per adult. A small group costs €98–145, a day with a lagoon €121–339, and a private car €700–1,690 per group: ≈€233 each for 3 people, ≈€114 each for 8 on the van tour.
Check dates · the classic, €83A Golden Circle tour from Reykjavík costs €78–103 per adult on a big bus, €98–145 in a small group of up to 19, €121–339 when the day ends in a lagoon and €145–159 with an evening northern-lights hunt. Private tours are sold per car: €700–1,690 per group, which comes to roughly €114–563 per person depending on how many share it.
Big coach, 7–9 hours, from Bus Stop 12 or BSÍ.
Minibus for up to 19, 6–9 hours.
1–2 hours in the water; a 9–13 hour day.
The day loop plus an evening hunt, Sep–Apr.
Your own driver-guide; 3–8 seats.
From-prices on GetYourGuide, checked Nov 2026; tours with 30+ reviews and ★4.0+ (private tours have fewer reviews).
On the same tour the price moves with three choices: hotel pickup adds €12–14 on most bus tours, a morning start on the classic adds €8 over the 12:00 bus, and the dearer lagoon ticket adds €18–30. Everything else — the date, the season and how many seats are left — shows only in the GetYourGuide calendar, which is why every price here is a from-price.
Most bus tours sell two versions of the same day. With the meeting-point option you walk to Bus Stop 12 at Höfðatorg or to the BSÍ terminal; with pickup a shuttle collects you from your hotel or the nearest numbered stop about 30 minutes before departure. On the classic with Kerið that is €83 against €95.
The classic with Kerið leaves at 08:00, 09:00 and 10:30 for €91, or at 12:00 for €83. The afternoon bus is shorter, about 7 hours against 8.5, and it does not stop at Kerið: the operator skips the crater on departures from 12:00. If the crater matters to you, that is what the €8 buys.
Lagoon tours sell the same day with two tickets. On the Kerið & Blue Lagoon tour Comfort costs €224 and Premium €245; on Kerið & Sky Lagoon the Pure Pass is €209 and the Sky Pass €229; at Laugarás, Lerki costs €18 more than Birki. The dearer tier adds a towel, a drink, masks or a private changing room — not more time in the water.
In November 2026 the thirteen tours we compare start at €78 per adult and end at €700 per group. Ten of them cost under €150 a person; the classic with Kerið, at €83 and ★4.8 from 27,970 reviews, is both the most booked and one of the cheapest. The table shows each tour's cheapest option: pickup or a better ticket costs more.
Prices: GetYourGuide, checked Nov 2026. They move with the date, the season and availability; the calendar shows the exact price.
The ticket covers the guide and the bus for the whole loop, pickup if you chose that option and, on lagoon tours, the lagoon ticket. What most tours leave out is lunch, bought at Geysir, and on some tours the Kerið entry of 700 ISK, about €5 a person. The two Blue Lagoon transfer tours also leave the lagoon ticket to you.

Private Golden Circle tours cost €700–1,690 per car, so the price per person falls as the group grows. Three people on the €700 tour pay about €233 each; eight people on the €912.80 van tour pay about €114 each, close to a small-group seat. Each car has a seat limit, from 3 to 8, and the calculator below respects it.
Prices per group from the tour pages; each tour has a seat limit.
Group prices: GetYourGuide, Nov 2026. Private tours have few reviews (4–34). The 6-stops tour costs €1,150 for 1–3 people, €1,350 for up to 8.
For one traveller a tour is cheaper than a hire car: €83 on the classic against roughly €85–115 for the car, fuel and fees. For two, a car saves about €25–40 each, and for four it costs only €25–35 a person. What the tour adds is a driver on winter roads and a guide; what the car adds is your own timing.
Car: €25–45 a day, fuel ≈€36–43 for 250–300 km at 282 ISK/L, the 2026 kilometre fee (1,550 ISK a day at one rental firm), Þingvellir parking 1,000 ISK, Kerið 700 ISK each. Our estimate from bluecarrental.is and thingvellir.is figures.
Four choices bring the price down without changing the day much: walk to the meeting point instead of booking pickup (−€12–14), take the 12:00 classic (−€8, but no Kerið), pick the Secret Lagoon over the Blue or Sky Lagoon (from €121 instead of €209–224), and fill a private van, which brings eight people down to about €114 each.
Choose the meeting-point option and walk to Bus Stop 12 or BSÍ.

If your hotel is far from Bus Stop 12 or BSÍ, yes. In the centre the walk is short and the meeting-point option saves the money.
For two or more, usually: a hire car comes to ≈€45–60 each for two and ≈€25–35 for four, against €83 each on the bus. Alone, the tour is cheaper.
