Eight tours with 30+ reviews and a rating of 4.0 or more, plus the self-drive day for scale. The cheapest seat is the bus at €78–83; a small group adds €15–25, a lagoon roughly doubles the price, and a hire car costs ≈€80–110 for the whole car. Sort by price or length, or filter for Kerið, a lagoon or a small group.
* The 12:00 departure skips Kerið. Tours: GetYourGuide · checked Nov 2026. Self-drive: small car €25–45, fuel ≈€36–43 for the loop, the 2026 kilometre fee, Þingvellir parking 1,000 ISK, Kerið 700 ISK per person.

The Golden Circle is a loop of about 240 km east of Reykjavík: ≈50 km to Þingvellir, ≈55 km on to Geysir, 12 km to Gullfoss and back south past Kerið. Most tours drive it in that order; the classic bus runs it the other way round, starting at Hveragerði and Kerið and finishing at Þingvellir.

A Golden Circle day from Reykjavík starts with pickup between 08:00 and 09:00, or at 12:00 for afternoon tours. The bus reaches Þingvellir in about 45 minutes, then drives to Geysir, where most tours stop for lunch, and on to Gullfoss ten minutes later. Most tours finish at Kerið and are back in the city between 16:00 and 19:00.
Lagoon tours add two to three hours in the water and get back later. At each stop you usually get 45–80 minutes; reviewers who wanted longer at Gullfoss or Þingvellir chose a small group, where the guide adapts the pace.
Times are typical for the classic bus with a 08:30 start; each tour page lists its own.
Across the three most-booked tours, 40,735 reviews average ★4.8. Guests praise guides who know the history and folklore, pickups that run to plan and a lagoon to end the day; the complaints are short time at one or two stops, lunch queues at Geysir and the 12:00 classic skipping Kerið. Eight recent reviews follow.
the classic“A great way to see the main attractions when staying in Reykjavik, with the right amount of time at each location. The local pick up worked well. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the return times very clear. We took snacks to avoid queuing at the stops.”LLiz · UK · Nov
+ Blue Lagoon“Alfred our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The pick up and drop off was good. It is a long day but well worth it. We particularly enjoyed the waterfall and the Blue Lagoon.”HHelen · UK · Nov
+ Secret Lagoon“There was enough time allocated for the visit to the lagoon. We were able to swim in peace, and at each location there was enough time to take in the amazing sights. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable.”PPilvi Ilona · Finland · Sep
the classic“Good day out, knowledgeable and experienced guide. Wish we had more time at a couple of spots. If you book any tours after 12, you won't be able to see the Kerid crater, which I wasn't aware of.”SSheema · UK · Nov
+ Blue Lagoon“Amazing tour! We had enough time to see all the main spots without feeling rushed. Ibrahim, our guide, was extremely nice, friendly and knowledgeable, which made the whole experience even better.”OOdeta · Kosovo · Oct
+ Secret Lagoon“Lovely day with Sunny and Mike, a well organised tour and saw the key sights. It felt a little rushed in places if you did want to do more walking. Highly recommend the Secret Lagoon!”CCharlotte · UK · Nov
the classic“A fantastic experience and a guide who exceeded expectations! Kristi was friendly, engaging and happy to answer any questions. The only minor flaw is that there is very little time to enjoy the scenery.”AAlida D · Italy · Nov
the classic“Thoroughly enjoyable day seeing some amazing sights in Iceland. Jessica was really friendly and informative. We really enjoyed hearing about the Christmas folklore. Lots to see but we did not feel rushed.”NNatasha · UK · NovGetYourGuide verified reviews, lightly shortened · checked Nov 2026.
Alone, a tour costs less than a hire car — €83 against ≈€85–115 — and takes the winter roads off your hands. For two, the car comes to ≈€45–60 each against €83 on the bus, and from three people up driving yourself is clearly cheaper, if you're happy on icy roads in short daylight.
